1. How much is the Milwaukee's Finest Scholarship?

   • The Milwaukee's Finest Scholarship is a one-time gift that ranges up to $2,000 per applicant.

2. Is there a GPA requirement?

   • To be considered as a Milwaukee's Finest Scholar, you are required to have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

3. Do I have to be currently enrolled in High School / High School Program to apply?

   • You must be enrolled at an accredited Milwaukee County high school with senior status.

4. Is this a merit-based or need-based scholarship?

   • Both. Students who exhibit leadership traits through extra curricular activities or financial hardship will receive higher preference.

5. Do I have to qualify for a Federal Pell Grant in order to receive a scholarship?

   • Yes. You will be required to show proof of your FASFA application in order to receive funding.

6. Do I have to be a resident of Milwaukee County in order to apply?

   • No. However, you must have attended a Milwaukee County High School throughout your high school career.

7. Do I have to attend a UW program/school in order to apply?

   • You are not required to attend a UW institution or program in order to apply.

8. When will the funds be disbursed to me?

   • You will receive a one-time deposit check for the awarded amount upon proof of enrollment at their college or university. You will be given two semesters to provide proof of enrollment before the funds will be forfeited back to the scholarship foundation. You can decide whether to send the check to your chosen institution or issue it to you directly.

9. Is there an age requirement to apply?

   • As long the student is a registered high school senior at a Milwaukee County high school, they can apply for the Milwaukee’s Finest scholarship.

10. Is there an ACT or SAT score requirement to apply?

    • No. The Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation does not require you to provide your ACT or SAT score in order to receive this scholarship.

11. What is the deadline for the Milwaukee's Finest scholarship?

    • The application deadline for the 2023-24 scholarship cycle is Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

12. Can I apply for this scholarship before being accepted into a college or university?

    • Yes, students who have not been accepted into a college or university at the time of submission are encouraged to apply. If an applicant is accepted into a college or university before the application deadline, it is recommended they update their student application prior to the deadline.

13. When will I be notified if I received the Milwaukee's Finest Scholarship?

    • Scholarship announcements will be made in the spring of 2024. Notifications will be sent via email and/or phone call.
